Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Waka collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains information when people use the Waka website, passenger platform, rider platform, support workflows, and related services.
Information Waka collects
- Account information, including name, email, phone number, account role, profile photo, language, and support preferences.
- Passenger ride information, including pickup GPS, destination, stops, ride timing, vehicle preference, fare proposals, accepted fare, trip status, ratings, support reports, and chat content.
- Rider application information, including identity details, date of birth, vehicle details, documents, insurance details, background-check consent, approval status, payout status, tax onboarding status, and availability state.
- Location information, including passenger pickup location, rider active location, ride progress location, and approximate marketplace distance or ETA.
- Payment information stored as provider references, such as Stripe customer, payment method, checkout, charge, transfer, subscription, and payout references. Waka does not store full card numbers or security codes.
- Communications and notifications, including in-app notices, push subscription tokens, support tickets, safety reports, SMS or email delivery records, and masked contact session metadata.
- Device and usage information, including browser type, app installation state, diagnostics, audit logs, system events, request IDs, and security events.
How Waka uses information
- To create and secure passenger, rider, business, and operations accounts.
- To publish ride requests, match passengers and riders, support fare negotiation, deliver ride updates, and process trip completion.
- To verify rider eligibility, support background checks, tax onboarding, payout readiness, and Waka approval decisions.
- To process payments, subscriptions, refunds, rider payouts, referral credits, and accounting records.
- To send operational notices, push notifications, SMS, email, support responses, and safety communications.
- To detect abuse, investigate incidents, improve reliability, monitor marketplace health, and comply with legal or regulatory duties.
Sharing and service providers
Waka shares information only as needed to operate the platform, comply with law, protect users, or complete requested services. Service providers may include Supabase for database and authentication, Cloudflare for hosting and security, Stripe for payments and Connect payouts, Twilio for SMS and masked calling, Checkr or another provider for background checks, Resend or another provider for email, and map or route providers for location services.
Waka does not sell personal information. Waka does not intentionally reveal passenger or rider real phone numbers to the other party; production masked contact uses Waka-owned relay numbers and ride-specific routing.
Location privacy
Waka uses location to find nearby rides, calculate ETA, support navigation, verify arrival or trip progress, and let matched passengers track rider approach. Before match, rider marketplace cards should avoid unnecessary complete pickup address detail. After match, the rider needs enough location detail to perform the ride.
Retention
Waka keeps records for as long as needed for rides, payments, tax and accounting obligations, safety investigations, dispute resolution, legal compliance, fraud prevention, and platform diagnostics. Operational logs may be pruned on a scheduled basis, while payment, tax, safety, and audit records may be kept longer when required.
Security
Waka uses role-based access controls, database row-level security, provider-hosted payment collection, webhook signature checks where supported, audit logs, operational feature controls, and limited public runtime bundles. No security system is perfect, but Waka designs the platform to limit unnecessary exposure of sensitive information.
Your choices
- You can update account and profile details in the relevant Passenger or Rider profile area.
- You can decline browser notification permission or disable it in your browser settings.
- You can contact Waka support to request access, correction, deletion, or review of your account information, subject to legal and safety retention needs.
- You can stop sharing live rider availability by deactivating rider availability.
Children
Waka is not intended for children. Users must be old enough to create a binding account and, for riders, old enough to satisfy driving, licensing, insurance, background-check, and platform eligibility requirements.
Contact
Questions about privacy can be sent through Waka support inside the app or through the support contact channel published in the active Waka workspace.
